Need Open Graph and Twitter Card tags that actually work? Spoold's OG & Meta Preview builds the HTML from a form, shows a live card preview, and parses tags from an existing page head.

The tags that matter

<meta property="og:title" content="Page title">
<meta property="og:description" content="Short summary">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/og.png">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/page">
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">

Open Graph tags use property=; Twitter tags use name=. Mixing them up is one of the most common reasons a preview does not appear.

og:type and twitter:card

og:type

website for most pages, article for posts, product, profile, and media types such as video.other.

twitter:card

summary for a small square image, summary_large_image for a wide hero image, plus app and player.

Image size

Aim for 1200×630 (1.91:1), an absolute https URL, and a reasonable file size.

Text length

Keep titles near 60 characters and descriptions near 155–160 to avoid truncation.

How to use it on Spoold

  1. Open /tools/web/og-meta and fill in the title, description, URL, and image.
  2. Pick the og:type and twitter:card chips.
  3. Check the preview and fix any warnings.
  4. Copy the generated tags into your page head, or share the setup via link.

Auditing an existing page

View source on any page, copy its <head> tags, and use Import from existing HTML head to load them into the form and see what a crawler sees.

When the preview does not update

Platforms cache link previews aggressively. After deploying changes, re-scrape the URL in the platform's debugger (Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector). Also confirm the tags are in the server-rendered HTML, since most crawlers do not execute JavaScript, and that the image is publicly reachable.

Frequently asked questions

Is the generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
Twitter falls back to Open Graph for title, description, and image, but twitter:card selects the layout, so include it. Adding twitter:* tags explicitly is safest.
Can it read tags from an existing page?
Yes. Paste a head snippet and the parser fills the form from og:*, twitter:*, description, title, and canonical tags.
Is the preview pixel-perfect?
No — it is an approximation. Always confirm with each platform's debugger after deploying.
Why is my old image still showing?
The platform cached it. Re-scrape the URL in its debugger, or change the image URL.
